Even the most diligent student needs a little break from time to time to recover and recharge his or her batteries for their studies. The Club Ausländischer Weihenstephaner offers a varied programme of events both during the lecture period and during the holidays. Whether sports, education, art and culture, or simply socialising, at the CAW, you will find the right event for you!
CAW Regulars' Table During the lecture period, we hold our CAW regulars' table at the Sammamera in Freising every Wednesday at 8:00 pm. The regulars' table is a meeting place for international students to get to know each other and exchange ideas. Those interested can also take the opportunity to taste the local beer specialities. |
|
Tasting Events We promote brewing and teaching beverage technology skills outside the university. You don't have to be a brewing student to benefit from this. The CAW experts professionally prepare information about the beverage to be tasted and guide you through the tasting. As a guest, all you have to bring is interest and curiosity. We regularly taste beer, but also wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages. |
|
International Movie Nights The CAW's international movie nights offer the opportunity to fully immerse oneself in the culture of the respective host country. The film screening is preceded by a tasting of drinks typical of the country with a special focus on the beverage-technological background, often accompanied by small appetisers typical of the country. At the screening itself, award-winning films from the host country are shown with the original soundtrack and English subtitles. In addition, there are other dishes typical of the country as well as desserts. |

Hiking Trips A hiking trip combines sport and nature experience. Freising's location makes it an ideal starting point for a variety of hikes, be it to the nearby Alps, along the Isar river or right next door to the Freisinger Moos. As a rule, our hikes are day trips, but sometimes we spend a night in a mountain hut on longer trips. |

Company and Factory Tours How is a particular drink or food actually made? How is a wine barrel or a bottling machine produced? All these questions can best be answered through factory tours. These expert tours – often conducted directly by our alumni – provide participants with exciting insights into the production processes and complement the grey theory from the lecture hall. |
CAW Regulars' Table
We meet as usual at 8:00 pm at Sammamera Freising, Vöttinger Str. 2a, for the CAW regulars' table to have nice conversations and enjoy some drinks. We can usually be found in the back room of the restaurant. Everyone is welcome to join us. No registration is required for participation! |

CAW Beer Tasting
The members of the CAW come from over 70 countries around the world, and the guests and friends of the CAW cover even more countries. So it's not surprising that the CAW fridge contains the finest beer specialities from all over the world. We would like to share these with our beer friends in Freising. That's why we now invite you to a joint beer tasting every fortnight.

Taste around the World – Kombucha
The CAW has set itself the task of making all those drinks accessible to Freising (brewing) students that are only dealt with in theory in lectures. At the start of the winter semester, we are discovering kombucha, a fermented drink made from tea. Join us to experience Kombucha from Germany and Portugal – made from pure tea as well as flavoured with spices and fruits.

Excursion to the BrauBeviale in Nürnberg
It's that time again. The beverage industry meets in Nuremberg and the CAW is right in the middle of it. Together we will visit our CAW Alumni as well as friends, guests and honorary members of the CAW. Over a beer or two, we will find out about new products and innovations in the beverage and liquid food sector. Accompany the CAW to selected exhibitors or explore the trade fair on your own. |
|
Brewery Tour to Bamberg
Brewers from all over the world come to Nuremberg for the BrauBeviale. Many companies - including long-standing supporters of the CAW - take the opportunity to invite their customers afterwards. The CAW is also taking part in this international industry gathering this year. On Friday we will visit the Kaspar Schulz Beer Festival, on Saturday and Sunday the Weyermann Bavarian Party and on Monday we will visit a Bamberg brewery.

Gingerbread and Beer tasting with St. Nicholas
While children ask themselves which biscuit they should eat in the run-up to Christmas, we ask ourselves which beer goes best with which biscuit. As part of our tasting, we pair strong beers matured in wooden barrels and brewed with spices with gingerbread and biscuits. Our beer expert explains which beer goes best with which Christmas biscuits and reveals which beers are particularly suitable as Christmas presents. As every year, St. Nicholas will be attending our tasting and bringing a small gift for everyone.

Taste around the World – Aceto balsamico
The CAW has set itself the task of making all those drinks accessible to Freising (brewing) students that are only dealt with in theory in lectures. In the case of aceto balsamico, the question arises right at the beginning as to whether it can be understood as a beverage at all. In the course of the lecture and the subsequent tasting, we will learn which balsamic vinegars are better enjoyed with cheese or desserts and which are actually suitable as an aperitif.
